An art, or an unsuccessful attempt?
The floor in one store in Gdańsk has become the object of jokes in the Internet.
According to the project’s representatives, such an effect was planned and it is not a coincidence, but refers to the sea wave.
“This layout of tiles was absolutely intentional and refers to dunes and sand on the beach” – says Dorota Patejko, store communications director.
The inspiration could be the so-called ‘cafe wall’, a popular optical illusion defined by Richard Gregory in 1973. It involves a slight shifting of the tile lines relative to each other, as a result lines stop looking as parallel to the obserever.
